The interest of the Esther Koplowitz Foundation for the disadvantaged, regardless of their nationality and geographical location, matches the Hospital Clínic’s tradition of studying and treating poverty-related diseases. The Hospital Clínic runs the Manhiça Health Research Center (CISM) for the study of these diseases in Mozambique, where a vaccine against malaria is being developed. Likewise, it manages the Maternity department of the Hospital Español in Tetuan. Among the diverse poverty-related diseases, the CIBEK will pay special attention to malaria.
