The biomedical axis of Barcelona

In recent years, Barcelona has witnessed the creation of several important centers for biomedical research. Out of that process an important axis of large infrastructures has developed, with the Parc de Recerca Biomèdica de Barcelona (PRBB), the Parc Científic de Barcelona (PCB), the Institut d’Investigacions Biomèdiques de Bellvitge (IDIBELL) or the IDIBAPS itself. The city of Barcelona appears already as one of the leading European motors when it comes to facing health and disease-related challenges. The creation of the CIBEK consolidates that trend, providing the researchers with a new destination of international relevance.

In conjunction with this development, the BioRegió de Catalunya (BIOCAT) is promoting a new model for regional development. Its aim is to consolidate Catalonia as an international benchmark, with a high-qulity research, a competitive business web and a solid and dynamic knowledge transfer system.
