CIBEK

Since 1995, the Esther Koplowitz Foundation has promoted projects aimed towards the development of health care and support activities for the disadvantaged. This institution enables Mrs. Esther Koplowitz to direct her humanitarian drive, providing assistance to the sick, the elderly, the disabled and the helpless, and also to minors facing social or family problems.

Her line of activity against the disease includes supporting the first-rate biomedical research. The development of new therapeutic strategies and the progress in biomedical knowledge improve our society’s quality of life. The direct investments for researchers working at the borders of biomedicine contribute to that progress.

15 million euros for a leading biomedical center

Mrs. Esther Koplowitz’s and her Fundación have put her trust in the Institut d’Investigacions Biomèdiques August Pi i Sunyer (IDIBAPS), linked to the Hospital Clínic de Barcelona. With the building of the Centro de Investigación Biomédica Esther Koplowitz (CIBEK), our researchers will have a new location to develop their leading activity in aid of society.

The center will be a new benchmark in the Biomedical Barcelona and a proof of Mrs. Esther Koplowitz’s effort to provide answers for the needs of the sick and the helpless. The financing of the CIBEK, estimated at about 15 million euros, is one of the highest private donations for biomedical research in Spain and Europe.
